It is finally cold in Lisbon. It took a while. It was a long nice summer but now rain and cold weather have arrived. Although I love the winter especially the beautiful sunny cold days I’m having trouble being disciplined with my morning routine of waking up early/ earlier.
I guess it’s time to review the most effective tricks to regain self control:
2. Develop Good Habits I will structure my life in a way that makes it easier to follow the right path. I will prepare everything the night before and leave my phone/ alarm clock away from the bed. I will repeat energy affirmations before going to sleep and remind myself of why I want to wake up and keep investing extra time in my own personal development. I will focus on the goals and get moving quickly. Focus: one more day, one other great opportunity right in front of me. I want to get out of bed, drink a big glass of water and start my morning routine. Working on my personal development daily will make me a winner. 3. Be inspired Always admire someone who is better than me at the things that I want to improve and keep lerning from other's examples. Let's see... if i'm struggling to wake up and devote 30 minutes to my morning routine, I can remember Benjamin Frankin's daily Schedule and think that I could easily do better than this! ;) Or maybe someone my age can move forward and speak about waking up when it's so cold? Please share your fights, conquers and tricks! Every morning Benjamin Franklin asked himself, "What good shall I do today?"

Try this:
1. Cultivate a Relaxing Evening Routine A short walk will help your body shut down. This can work as an antidepressant, clear your mind, and help you attract a recuperative night of sleep. Continue a relaxed routine as bedtime approaches: read a book, drink some tea and DON’T check your e-mail! 2. Slow Down For a good night’s rest, you need a cool dark room. Electronics are to be avoided. Once you’re lying in bed, try deep-breathing like in a pilates class or meditation session. 3. Get Out of Bed If you find yourself revolving in bed, get up, go to a different part of the house and do something boring in dim light. 4. Relaxing Techniques If morning is approaching and you’re still unable to sleep, don’t let tragic thoughts take over. Accept that you can’t sleep. Write down what worries you and let those troubles fade away in paper or accept that a few hours of sleep will only get you closer to finding a solution. Stil can’t sleep? Then start your day earlier than usual and repeat some affirmations that will help convincing your body and mind that you have all the energy and power you need for a great day! Rise and Shine! I have all the energy I need! I have all the energy I need to fulfill my dreams! I have all the energy I want to live life to its fullest potential! I have all the energy I need and that makes me feel happy and fulfilled! I have so much energy that I will rise above all the challenges this day offers! Last week we had the Web Summit in Lisbon! I guess everyone is finding a way to come to Lisbon! This one was a great opportunity, from what I've heard.
I didn't have a chance to go but my youngest brother urged me to assist the 'best of the web summit' in his own words! He also told me to publish the video on my blog which I politely refused because I don't like cursing... Would the message be so strong or compelling if Gary didn't swear? That's a whole other topic. Thank you Gary for the ENERGY and powerful message!! I’ve written down his thoughts with exclamations because this was how enthusiastic he was about his ideas! Convincing enough? If not, listen to him here! I’m sorry for the excessive cursing! One of the things that strikes me the most every day is the lack of energy, drive, optimism of most people around me! Thank you dear Lord for the privilege of being alive today! Thank you for one more chance to make a difference! A couple of days ago I received a list of ‘The 20 habits of eventual Millionaires by James Altucher’. Here are my favorite 7:
Although I understand that being a millionaire may not be a priority or a target for most people, I think we should be the best version of ourselves, develop our habilities daily, reach for more and more. I think this keeps us moving, offers us happiness in the journey and makes us (and people around us) achieve great things! Think about the possibilities: Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg to give away 99% of shares Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan say they will give away 99% of their shares in the company to good causes as they announce the birth of their daughter Max. Mr Zuckerberg made the announcement in a letter to Max on his Facebook page. He said they were donating their fortune to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to make the world a better place for Max to grow up in. The donation amounts to $45bn (£30bn) at Facebook's current value. However the shares will not be donated to charity immediately, but over the course of the couple's lives. Were Mr Zuckerberg to give away 99% of his shares immediately, he would still possess hundreds of millions of dollars. Ms Chan's worth has not been documented. Max was born last week, although her birth was only made public on Tuesday. In his letter Mr Zuckerberg said the aim of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative is "to advance human potential and promote equality for all children in the next generation". Its initial areas of focus will be personalised learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities. The last few days have been tough… at work a wild move by the markets seem to have vanished my performance target right when I was getting closer and closer and it seemed within my reach. I’ve also been having a bigger load of work and new responsibilities so that feeling of being on top of my game is now gone… I need to adapt to the new reality…
First, confidence! I’ll focus on these 4 steps and then find my way forward (and share with you on my next post):
And then, even though Phil Collins has been trying to keep singing ‘When I’m feeling blue’ in my head I’ll now make a quick switch to ‘Start me up’ by Rolling Stones! HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! |
