The trick is in what one emphasizes.
We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same. Carlos Castaneda

It sounds much simpler than what it is! At least if you’re trying new challenges like running fast! Not for me, really… I really struggle on this.
This morning I did very basic mistakes that remind me that I’m a beginner ;) So here are 2 basic tips that you should not forget EVER: "Warm up adequately Warm up for a minimum of 20 minutes by walking or jogging at a very easy pace. Warming up prepares your body for the workout ahead by gradually increasing your heart rate and breathing rate. Sweating is a good indication that your body is warm so use that as a guide and then gradually begin picking up the pace as you move into your training pace. Our bodies don't like going from 0 to 60! Practice proper breathing techniques Improper breathing can be another cause of breathlessness. If breathing is too shallow, it is ineffective and more closely resembles hyperventilation than effective ventilation. Practice breathing deeply when you are not running. Relax, inhale deeply, and exhale completely, dropping your shoulders with the exhalation. As you exhale deeply, force the air out of your lungs, and follow this with a deep inhalation. Some refer to this as "belly breathing" because your abdomen should also rise and fall with deep breathing. Place your hand on your abdomen and see if you feel it moving." [ Thank you Runner’s World ] Well… that means waking up before 7 am… I must revisit my miracle morning posts ;) Holiday Tip: Don’t get crazy about shopping. That is not where Christmas joy comes from! Take you time to think about the people you want to give special gifts and make it more about the person than the discount! And… Have a very good Monday! Run until you’re done! “Be patient with yourself. Self-growth is tender; it’s holy ground. There’s no greater investment.”
Stephen Covey Everyone has a mental list of “I should have’s”. I bet you have 3 ringing in your year right at this time I should have__________________ … I should have__________________ … I should have__________________ … (fill in the blanks) But ANY DAY WE CHOOSE we can get to work on the basics that will help start the process of self-discipline! The joy that comes from a chosen small achievement will start the miracle process! Every day is a fresh start! Use it! The quick inspiration that will come from the practice of a new and simple habit will start a virtuous process of soaring self-esteem. It does not matter if that ‘new thing’ seems like a small step or an invisible progress. That small change will turn you into a stronger and more capable person that will develop the discipline required to see and grab great opportunities. The smallest of disciplines, practiced every day, start an incredible process that can dramatically change our lives. Intelligent, planned, passionate and consistent activity creates new energy and keeps us moving toward the exciting future that our thoughts and desires have already designed for us. Get to work on those small habits (choose the ladder instead of the elevator? Wake up 15 minutes earlier?) and watch how that new vision of yourself and your goals will unfold. Consistent effort lies within the reach of anyone and is the most crucial factor in success. Amateurs wait for inspiration. The real pros get up and go to work. Harvey Mackay Too soon?? Aha, gotcha!
Thinking about my last 12 days and how fast the end of the year is approaching… But actually my last 12 days were so complete that I’m not troubled about how fast time passes but more about how much I embrace every day and how I can set opportunities for making the most of each day. Remember one of my last posts about how >>>>>> splitting goals <<<<<< can help you to stay calm? I’m starting to think that that instruction can actually help you stay calm and happy! So what if we could turn that boring ‘Resolutions’ drama into something much more exciting? What if we could turn those resolutions into smaller blocks. I’m thinking that I may in fact accomplish more if I set targets for the next 12 days than thinking that in the next 12 months I want to achieve a large list of good things. So let’s see and before we fly into the dreamland of these resolutions and making the common mistake of not even really wanting to do 1/3 of that list, have no clue about where to start the other 1/3 and copying some ideas because we got carried away by this obligation of setting high absolute-everybody’s goals… Let’s see what made you happy in the last 12 days??? [I had incredible days in this ‘block’ but also ‘normal’ days that made me happy!]
I’ll try to keep this guidance for the next 12 days. If I can tick one of these items every day I think my days will become brighter, my weeks better, my months memorable and my year a very happy one! Even if it is starting on the 20th November! ;) ![]() “Embrace what you don’t know, especially in the beginning, because what you don’t know can become your greatest asset.
