We've just got back from holidays! We took 3 straight weeks... Perfect to have enough time to renew and refresh! Let me see...
1. Get enough sleep? Yes
2. Spend time enjoying food? Definitely!!
3. Alternate physical and mental activities? YES (more on this on posts to follow)
4. Get outside? Yes
5. Take time for family and friends? Yes
6. Listen to music? Yes
So I guess I would pass the exam on 'taking a real holiday'!
I also took time to observe other vacation methods... My husband worked at least 2-3 hours every day... is this prejudicial? Well, I'm not sure about that... At least knowing him and people who have similar personalities, I think It was beneficial! Let's see... he did 4 out of the 6 recommended steps highlighted above for taking a real vacation... and besides that he has certainly added to the list:
- Extra points on being a team player/ having a good attitude about working on holiday
- Personal satisfaction
Well, it doesn't look like he has done a bad choice! Let's see how he manages the end of the holiday and if he can keep the good energy for the long months we have ahead of us until the next holidays!
What about you? Do you enjoy working a little while on holidays or do you brag about not even checking your emails and dedicating full time and energy to the task of actually resting?
